No hating here, mostly jelousy . It's still hard to believe that you guys have shit custom made for graffitti now that you can legally buy in a store, it's just crazy to me. We had leagal walls down in Huntington Beach for like a year or 2 when I was young. It only lasted until they realized that creating a destination point for all of SoCal's vandals was going to um... get their city vandalized.

Don't even get me started about all of the public skate parks that have been built since I've stopped skating

Just being able to chill in the sun, doing some painting while having a beer with friends, putting some attention to details, and then I don't mean highlights or whatever, but creating some real good looking stuff. And all this without having to constantly look over your shoulder every five seconds.

I do miss the rush from the bombing, the quick pieces and such, but it's not worth it.
you dont do that on non legal walls. Seriously if your gonna do it go big or go home.

what are you talking about? Does someone who paint legally have to be super serious while he paints? Don't know about you but I prefer to have a good time and get good results over painting super seriously and get good results. The painting will still look the same, just it wont be as fun.

After thousands of dollars in fines, years on probation, and a small amount of time locked up I'd reccomend taking advantage of all the legal walls you can. I haven't done any painting in like 12 years but after watching Exit Through The Gift Shop a couple of months ago I got the itch real bad to go back out. Had to fight it though. Like a heroin addict it's still in my blood after all these years.

Yups, that's why I try to stay away from these topics as much as possible.

How do you guys track down legal walls? Word of mouth? And most walls are probably already tagged so how do you paint without pissing off the previous artists? Or is it understood that it's not going to last so enjoy it while you can?

I've never been bold enough to do anything but stuff in a dedicated room in my house, canvas, and art for friends/a local business once.

At here, the legal walls are governed by the writers, if you come and spray garbage over a piece, you will probably get beat if you get caught, but for the most part, pieces get put up every couple months when the paint fades. And because its a legal wall, you can stay for hours putting in quality work. I've seen guys use up whole backpacks of paint on huge productions.

I always wondered how graffiti writers of all people can get mad when their shit gets painted over, it has always been a part of the game. If you paint at a legal wall, someone will paint over you, that's the whole point. It doesn't matter how good you are, some toy will always paint over your shit.

I spend approximately 6 hours on my paintings, the one that has last the longest stayed up for three days. If you can't deal with it, don't do it.
