Defiantly my bad on the djm :O
Thanks for the clarification.
I just never liked the "sound" of pioneer mixers, besides how much everyone "raves" about them (all puns intended).
And I can definitely concede that even in 4 deck internal mixer mode with lots of other stuff going on it barely bridges 50% usage... of one of my processors, and traktors used abour 200-300 megs of ram.... not that much at all truthfully.
But as was said before, there is something to be said for nonexistent (controller) latency on your external mixing board, as well as the ease of expansion to other sound shaping equipment with least amount of AD/DA conversion, and the added reliability of say a pioneer efx1000, as opposed to a similar software plugin.
So really all depends on how you currently play and where you want to go with your progression.
I really don't think one is inherently better per say. And I have a fair assumption that the algorithms for mix down in the digital world will continue to get better until they surpass that of analogue. And I believe audio files will eventually catch up as storage becomes cheaper. We might see uncompressed digital files as the norm, and that would be a beautiful day indeed.
But that day is not today, and at least I feel, digital has got some catching up to do still. Witch is why I prefer a hybrid digital/analogue setup.
But I totally feel you on your side, and if that works well for you I wouldn't recommend changing it, and thanks for the constructive response![]()
