I’ve been moving about with a computer using the keyboard as a midi controller since 2000. Pre-dating 2000, I was playing vinyl on my Technics 1200s. I never pursued using CD Players long-term. They are just not my cup of tea. As I mentioned previously, I am not new to Djing and, know exactly what is and what is not needed for my mixing style based on 11 years being a Digital DJ.
I don’t use the “Shift” key for anything in terms of Djing. Unless I am spinning vinyl, jog wheels that emulate turntable platters are not necessary. It is one of the reasons why I don’t use my 1200s. I’m used to pressing keys so buttons will not be an issue.
Since the majority of the loops are at the spur of the moment, it does leave me losing a player from time to time. I only pre-plan the first three songs upon starting my set. I don’t create play lists.
The more I think about it, the X-1 seems to be bests for my mixing style.
I can see myself destroying the touch screen when I start feeling the vibes. I'm just too destructive to use a "Touch Screen."![]()
