Also, BROstep? I kinda like the "electro mixed with dubstep" but BROstep?

What comes to mind about what a bro is is this:

    Thanks! +1

Upon hearing the brostep it reminded me a lot of drumstep but with slower snare/hihat...

Still some sort of dubwhatever mix can be made and see how people here react to it.

I'm not understanding what you are saying. Are you asking for a dubstep mix?

That I would incorporate 4-5 dubstep songs into a set to see how people react to it. See if people like it. Sorry for my shitty english, it isnt my main language

The consensus here is that is pretty popular. Still over here it's all about the drum and bass and some flavors of house and techno. TO my knowledge they havent brought any dubstep DJs and it would be interesting if it catches on.

This is tomorrow. It gives you a fairly solid view of what people here like from EDM.

what he seems to be saying is that its all dubstep and that 'brostep' is a term that shouldnt exist.

however, you still have to have respect to the older stuff that isnt called 'brostep'

but you dont need to know the genres history.

i dont know, that seems to conflict with its self a bit, and he's somewhat drunk, so take it as you will.

I think it's all a matter of personal taste. Dubstep by far is my favorite genre. And, there's parts of it that I absolutely hate, while some I can't get enough of. And I feel that's pretty true with any genre.

The thing about Dubstep/Brostep right now, is it's crossing a lot of boundaries into scenes that aren't usually open to electronic music. I have some hip hop listening friends who will enjoy it, and I have some heavy metal friends who will enjoy it. No other genre can claim that it gets around as much at the moment.

    Moral of the story:

    Dubstep is a slut.

I definitely agree with him on a certain level... People can't handle the fact that music evolves, always, there's no stopping it.

That being said I could see where people would want a new term because the people stuff are calling "brostep" has it's own sound that differentiates itself from earlier dubstep. Call it a sub-genre if you will, whatever, people just like to label things.

But I do think it's kinda immature to call it "brostep," I mean c'mon it's just the kids who liked the oldschool stuff takin' a shot at the different sound, which is just dumb... theymad.

Looks like I agree with I_Skream without even knowing he existed about Brostep being a tacky and campy way to name a music genre. Not the music itself, I think it's aight, but "Brostep" sounds like something the guy from Jersey Shore would spin. Also "Brostep is a gay dating agency" hehehe

Why is I_Skream sounding so pissed about Skrillex? I mean, they even share 5 letters in their name, they should be more "bro-like"

watching the live shiftee inter view and i asked:

ok, so to you, what defines brostep? this has been a hot topic everywhere. do you think its ruining dubstep, making it bigger, or is it becoming its own thing

he replied (i was typing as he talked, so i paraphrased slightly):

"i think it connected to the other kinds of dubstep. its kind of becoming its own thing. its filling the open space and its filling all the frequencies. i dont think its ruining dubstep. if you go to shows and you see the crowd they go crazy. ive been at some shows where the line up is someone who plays harder stuff and it sounds wimpy. alot of the fans are younger people and its cool that they are going to grow up with it."
