I think you've missed the pointit's not about the publicity, it's about them coming out with a 'new amazing' product every 4 weeks.
well there is something to be about people like skrillex and avicii being nominated for grammy's and such. Its in the public eye now. Its front in center for popular music. Thus it is now being made to the masses. The majority of the masses will now think hell I can DJ better then this guy, how can I do it cheap and easy. Thus these companies keep bring out the next best thing to make DJ fuller, easier, and more affordable, thus making it more accessible.
Its like cellphones. When they first came out it was for the elite, who needed and wanted to be connected at all times, they were slow on updates and hella expensive. Now a new cellphone comes out ever 2-3 months from a company. Its like these DJ controllers, a bunch of crap and I mean crap will come out for the next few years while these companies try to figure out the answer to what people want, that is until an "iPhone" for DJ controllers comes out sets the bar. Kinda like technics did and Pioneer CDJs. Its gonna take time but I think eventually a game changer will come out.
You miss a MAJOR point - You can't buy taste & you can't buy learning how to work a room.
The original post isn't about N.I. Or any one company in particular. It's about the industry as a whole.
I don't know anyone who is even close to a 4 week release cycle. It's just not possible for either hardware or software.
As Carlos points out, pioneer have a large range of products that covers everything from pro to beginners and even these products only really change in 2-3 year cycles, far less than a lot of electronic brands.
Yeah mate i get that. Problem is, there are so many companies getting in on the DJ action that it 'seems' like a million products a year.
Just gotta pick the ones that suit your needs.
I think the Mobile phone industry is far more guilty of what your talking about, especially when it comes to models becoming obsolete or at least undesirable.
I know guys using Traktor Scratch (v1) and the Audio 8 that are 6 years old. No upgrade necessary.
Ye you're right there Karlos, the phone game is ridiculous! lol
Very true guiltyblade.
