i srsly doubt they can pull in the demographic that might actually care about watching a dj do their thing. it will be the same old american idol/dancing with the stars crowd who have no clue or concern about djing

I also cringe to think of all the super commercialized music the djs would likely be made to work with

Here are my BIGGEST gripes about this whole show:

#1 The majority of the BIG NAME DJs out there these days are not really DJs at all. They are Producers, they make their own music and then they play at these big events. Several big name DJs dont even actually DJ...it is a set that they have made and they just pump it out and get the crowd going.

Prime Examples:

David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, Tiesto, Skrillex blah blah blah...the list goes on (No this is not what i spin or like just stating the names)

With the advance in music production...there are more producers out there doing their own thing live using ableton, this is still not DJing...they are playing their own music and doing it LIVE.

Next question: What is a DJ....most simply a DJ is the person who plays music, is able to read the crowd knows his music inside and out and can have absolute control over the crowd through the music and eye contact.

A GREAT DJ can control his crowd...make them jump when he wants to or make them chill out when he wants to by using his music.

So...how the FUCK is a gay show like this in 1 hour segments be able to deterimine who is the next "Rock Star DJ"?

I just want the opportunity to play some Limewax/Dylan/Panacea/Current Value devilstep on TV.

I would love to see the look on the judges' faces when that happens, drop The Indivisible Force and watch them melt
Hell, just someone convince Current Value or The Panacea, any of those you mentioned, list of dark DnB guys goes on... wouldn't matter how awesome the mixing would inevitably be, the judges would write it off as shite.

Hey I like Iron Chef, Top Chef and Chopped. I think those are the only competition reality shows I watch..

Speaking as a chef, I think most cooking reality shows are good, since the average person has at least some understanding of food.

Take that and apply it to djing and you have a disaster, the average person just doesn't understand or care what we do, granted it will make some people understand, but all I can see is the person who looks prettiest behind the decks and plays the same shit we see on the normal x factor being the winner.

Having said that id enter, just for the crack.

Im just getting my look ready before I enter, I think i'll go for black spray on pants, maybe a tight checkered shirt and a grey cardigan and a fedora hat, you cant dj without a fedora! i'll have to get a big necklace, maybe I should get some glasses, skrillex wears glasses... but I can see perfectly, I guess I'll just take out the lenses. I'm gonna be a superstar, I should be able to dj easily I once dj'd a party for like 5 minutes it's a peice of cake...

what do you guys think, I'm sure to win :P
