cheap laser DVD pickup don't last with vibration, as simple as that. Replacement Laser Assy' for a CDJ is round 115$-125$ COST.

It's actually a DVD-ROM drive in the 2000s.
An upgrade to BD-ROM wouldn't make much sense as anyone is likely to use USB-keys for higher capacities.
In the long run they'll ditch the optical drive but it still too early for that.
