I knew there must be some workaround that VCI users here put on, thanks. Now I´m in doubt again, hahaha!

I'd being researching the dj midi controller market for a month or so until I finally took the plunge with a black vci-100 on Monday last week. As usually happens when you dwell on these things I gradually bid myself up from a hercules, to a numark, to a vestax. I think the year I spent working at Bang & Olufsen turned me into a label snob as far as electronics are concerned (although my miele washing machine, fridge and vacuum have never ever given me any problems so I figure you do get what you pay for). Either way, the 'cool' of owning a vestax product finally got the better of me.

Anyway, through my month of research I never once came across the new reloop digital jockey 2 (my research obviously wasn't that thorough). My vci is ordered now so there's no going back, but I'm getting those doubts about having missed a trick. I'm interested to hear more from Guust-Fi about issues you've had with the cue/play buttons on the reloop. Do you think that this is a build quality issue. I guess I really just want re-assurnace that I made the right choice, which is silly, but thanks in advance anyway.

    timmychimp :

I have now my black vci since one week, and it's extremely pleasant to use. The jogs are cream, heavy, solid, and really pleasant to use.

I've got traktor LE for now, so I'm not able to reconfigure the midi assignements, but as soon as I can I'll upgrade to traktor 3 or traktor pro, and then I'll use the jogs to browse (you can have the left one for directories browsing and the right one for tracks browsing withtin a directory).

there are lots of TKS files downloadable here and there, and it seems relatively easy to do it by yourself.

My first impressions were given with a vci + traktor LE + TKS file provided with the soft and gear. This tks file is not really good, so my impressions are.

But I'm sure when I'll be able to make my own midi assignements... then I'll totally love my vci.

for now, what I don't love, is... well... traktor LE

You didn't do the wrong choice. even if reloop have great implementations, the build quality won't be the same as the TANK vci... and the transparent illuminated plastic sides of the jogs are sooooo fresh! (blue, then red when you touch the sensitive part of it...)

anyway, I guess it's only a matter of price range.

anyone will be really happy with either a vci or a reloop 2 I'm sure!

I´m still in two minds, how do you know the build quality of the Vextax is better than the Reloop? I went to Reloop site and they say is "panel made of brushed aluminium" and "Pro longlife faders and crossfader" but that's all I got, Is the VCI made of other material than aluminium? It also comes with the new Traktor Pro LE.

"panel made of brushed aluminium" and "Pro longlife faders and crossfader"

..sounds quite good to sell a new product, but to be honest wtf is a pro longlife fader? brushed aluminium may look nice, i wish my technics had that too

all that has actually nothing to do with the build quality!

i don´t know the reloop but the vestax is 4 sho build like a tank...

Well I can't really tell that the vestax is better build than the reloop, I don't own the reloop, and the 2 is not reviewed for now...

The reloop IS a good choice, and has several options and useful features that the vestax doesn't. and yes it comes with traktor (pro) LE, and a tsi file that totally fits the gear to the soft.

I would have gone for the reloop if the 2 was already released and reviewed. Now I have the VCI and it's great. I would be also really pleased with the reloop for sure.

for the upgrade question, I just saw that lots of users were not happy with T pro, and were waiting for the 1.2. upgrade to fix some bugs and make stuff better... that's why I was interested by the 60 euros T3 licence someone can sell to me...

I'll wait for the Tpro 1.2 to be released, traktor LE is fine for me now, enough to begin to LEARN DJing !!! lol

    Thanks and cheers to all

I think I'll wait for the Reloop to be released, which is announced for this month it has some features that the Vextax doesn't, like the brownse knob or a button for maximizing the brownser or even a pair of buttons for opening and closing folders, of course you can map the VCI to do this but I'm not that geek, I'm just a DJ and I want to spend my time with the music not programming a controller to do things that it should do from factory. Also I don't think the quality of Reloop is bad, looks good and is not very cheap like Beringher for example.

that's a good choice, I would have done the same if I was not in a hurry to get my dj controller. And if you're not really into midi programming stuff, indeed the reloop 2 will be perfect for traktor PRO (even if it is also really good for midi geeks, because the midi implementation is far much better than the vci's)

you can get it right now here for 249 euros (controller edition) :

tell us when you get it !!!

    cheers
