Getting OT here- It's not just frequency response responsible for the "muddled" sound or what makes a good or bad studio monitor and there is more going on and actually frequency response doesn't mean all that much as a benchmark and is more marketing (look at the NS10, not exactly flat). There is more important things like time-domain response and harmonic distortion to look at.

If you're bored and want to read an in depth article on the NS10 and some real world benchmarks this is interesting and gives some practical insight into studio monitors. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep0...yamahans10.htm

You wouldn't want to DJ using NS-10's...
Could be, but letting aside the flatness I found the KRKs sound quite unclear, or muddled. I mean, how flat you want your monitors is a matter of personal preference, but I do want the sound they intend to produce to come out accurately. DJ or producer, you do want to hear exactly what you are doing with what sound. And with the KRKs, that is not really the case (as in: there are much better options).

Well maybe so - I think the KRKs give great bang for the buck (I mean seriously, I paid less than $200 for the pair) as DJ speakers, and while I understand they are not flat, I don't find them inaccurate. But I'm also not using them for producing or "critical listening." But if I mix on them and it sounds good and I record the mix and play it on other systems it still sounds good so I'm not getting the muddling that people are talking about. But again that may be different if I listened to them side-by-side with much more accurate monitors.
