Getting OT here- It's not just frequency response responsible for the "muddled" sound or what makes a good or bad studio monitor and there is more going on and actually frequency response doesn't mean all that much as a benchmark and is more marketing (look at the NS10, not exactly flat). There is more important things like time-domain response and harmonic distortion to look at.
