So i just bought another MacBook Pro - 13" this time

and what's the benefit in lugging this extra piece of gear around?

well i would hardly consider it "lugging" gear around. It is like the size of an iphone... But first, with a external HD there is no need to worry about upgrading the internal HD and there being problems with stuff not working. Secondly i feel it is just more safe to have my music on a solid external hd. This way any thing happens to the computer's hd i haven't lost all my stuff, plus i am anal and back up all my music on a virtual drive as well. but in the heat of the moment i can use someone else's traktor setup if i had to... Plus i have DJ'd with a friend before who uses my exact setup,and i just plugged my HD right into his computer... easy peasy


But like with everything else its personal preference.

just got my macbook yesterday, and jeez louizzzzz!!!

traktor is solid as a rock. I've tried getting some glitches with 4 decks, recording and analyzing, no lag at all. I've been running the A8, a controller and an external harddrive and everything works great.

I suppose its a brand new machine, so of course it is, eh?

also, I bought a powered 4port USB hub from circuit city. Its a Nexttec (or whatever). Works good, but the port that plugs into the computer is too big and it wont leave enough room to use the other usb port. I lost my reciept, so it thought i'd shave off some of the plastic covering and that seemed to work(for any of you who may care)
