To say that one is more portable than another is silly, they both fit in a backpack and weigh less than 10 pounds. I haven't played out too many places, but if a place doesn't have enough space for your controller, how were they expecting you to DJ? With the new FloatingStand? (Release date Sept!) What if you showed up with 2 1200's and a mixer like a proper vinyl DJ? I can't imagine anyplace being too small for a controller and laptop.
Rob, get either one. Just realize you'll have to buy a sound card for the VCI-100. (or you could get a VCI-300) Also, the S4 is going to be the latest and greatest, the VCI-100 has been out for a while. I vote NI S4, don't worry about the portability argument, that's nonsense.
Thanks a lot for that answer Dj Nada, I appreciate you taking the time to answer. The only thing I really want to know now is w h e r e can I get that floating stand!? And does it come with the telepathic mixing table?
    .................
    -thought

    "gimmie some reverb NOW"

    -Mixer

    "how much?"

    ................

point taken though, it's pretty much what I thought about as well, I mean if I can't bring a simple VCI what can I bring? My Iphone with a built in traktor pro and a pocket sized sound card?
    I guess I'll wait for the NS4.

    Thanks again

Well i dont know what clubs u use to play but there are so many clubs where the booth is fitted for their 1210's, cdj's and a mixer. So if you don't have any stands with you it will indeed be a problem to fit your stuff in the booth. Also i haven't seen any backpach except for big traveling bagpacks where you would be able to put in your s4, because it's whider than the average 4 channel mixer as you can read in the specs. So the vci is defor more portable than the s4.
I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.

What about traditional setup guys that bring along their 2 channel battle mixers or Rane 57 and 2 big CD books? Any way you look at it, a controller is going to be smaller than a traditional setup. (Except maybe timecode vinyl and laptop, but then you still need TTs and mixer at home to practice on...) I've put my laptop on top of a CDJ before and it stays there pretty well, Maybe a big towel to fold and put over the mixer or whatever? I've also never played anywhere where they didn't ask me what I needed first. Is that not normal?

Good work dubgiant the VCI looks how it should now lol but either way its a very informative graph on the scale of each controller you have there, but HOLY SH*T that S4 is huge compared to it LOL

    I still want it haha..
