$700 street? Not bad considering this would save me $200 vs. the S4.

Being a Digital Jockey 2 user I do have a few concerns though (as do most DJ2 owners I'm sure) that hopefully Mike can answer:

    1. Do any of the encoders (FX, Loop Section, etc.) feature clicks when turning?

It was a bit annoying that Reloop built the DJ2 with FX encoders that clicked in increments rather than fluid motion. I was hoping that the only the Loop Length and Loop Move dials exhibited this behavior on the Jockey 3 since turning either would be a defined step.

    2. How are the pots/knobs and faders in terms of smoothness and rigidity? Any wiggle/looseness?

This was another issue for the DJ2 since the EQ knobs featured press-down kills which seemed to take away from smooth turns and added wiggle. I was hoping that Reloop addressed this with better construction/materials.

    3. Are the buttons responsive and consistent?

I ask about this since many have had issues with the transport controls on the DJ2 failing to activate randomly despite very deliberate pressing on a regular basis. In fact, I had to abandon the Play button on deck B due to it being completely unreliable.

    4. How are the jogs for juggling in a track?

I'm personally not interested in its scratching ability but rather if it can be used much like a CDJ to bring in tracks. And I'm not sure how "4096 steps per rotation" compares to the S4's HID protocol but hopefully it doesn't experience much lag.

These issues are major deciding factors for me and since it will be next to impossible for me to try a unit before purchasing any light shed on these areas would be greatly appreciated.

alright, lets go straight down the line.

1-all encoders are indented (clicking) when turned, all encoders are push-buttons as well, pushing and turning was not a problem.

I personally dont really care if there indented or smooth, smooth encoders send out the same type of step by step messages in general and its really only the physical feel that is different, but they are indented on the large red encoders.

2-The pots, faders etc were definitely better than the DJ2, very smooth.

I checked out the DJ2 and I know exactly what your worried about, the DJ3faders are much, much better.

3-YES, I loved these buttons, I went crazy with samples and cue points and they were fine, again I'ved used the DJ2 and understand why your asking. they're much better.

4-The jogs were sweet, I loved the way they felt and they were very responsive, no noticeable lag and they were accurate.

basically you sound like you would be happy with everything except for the indented encoders.

my only real personal dislike about the unit was that its jogs were a little too low profile and the rim where you nudge was a bit small.

Ok so a few questions with these new controllers.
Could you set this up with TSP and have 2 tt's plugged into the mixer and still have all the capabilities of the controller?

Would it need to be remapped for TSP since it does not come with the controller?

Are there any other controllers out that will be able to use timecode and still have full capabilities of the mixer....s4?

    Thanks for the response, Mike!

Considering its notable improvements and price point I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this controller. Granted the S4 is an amazing piece of gear (was dead set on getting it since the announcement in August) but this seems to be an excellent less-expensive alternative.

Please keep the info coming as it surfaces. Hopefully we'll have a detailed review from someone soon since many won't be able to find this in their local shops.

yes you can switch between midi and analog modes while playing.

it has a TSI on the installer, but you can do whatever you want.

not sure what you mean by the last question, the mid mixer of analog mixer?

Hey Mike this might be a rookie question. Just wondering how the 2 faders will control 2 decks each. So lets say I have decks A and B playing. Now I flip the switch from A to C. The fader was already up for deck A...how would you slowly bring song C in if it's fader was already up from deck A? Can you do a step by step....

Sorry for the basic question. THanks!
