I have a mapping that is EXACTLY like you just described.

Bottom 3 effect knobs are EQ, top knob is channel fader.

Then I created another shift button, and on another layer I have Master Gain, Channel Gain, Cue Volume, and the channel filters.

And the buttons next to the knob for the channel fader are "fader cut" buttons, that push the fader all the way up, or all the way down (depending on where the fader currently is) with the press of a button. Great for quick fader cut routines.

I find I really enjoy using the mapping just because the knobs on the X1 feel so choice.

Check out the movie Berlin Calling for a great DJ movie made by a real DJ turned actor.

More picks of Paul with his setup here: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/s...hreadid=525835
Kalkbrenner is still a producer turned DJ that acted in Berlin Calling! What a superb movie that was!
At one point I was actually considering a setup similar to this one.

Sounds to me like the op wants an apc40 bit is looking for reassurance. I personally can't understand why you need 8 performance cue points when mixing trance but that might just be my unimaginative little mind!! Equally though I'd seriously consider an X1 and a midi-fighter. 2 of the most tactile pieces of gear I've EVER come across!! Damn sexy looking as well!!!
