The S4 IS an all in one package. Meaning if you don't have ANYTHING and need to start somewhere, you can buy the S4 and you will be good to go. Only thing you need is a computer and a music library.

NI as a software company has really been one of the best I've seen. Most companies will fight you tooth and nail to have you be the only person who is ever allowed to use/own the software that they sell you. That is one of the big reasons that drove me to NI and Traktor in the first place. I own TP2 want a S4 and I may just give my copy away to a friend who has been thinking about getting into digital for awhile. There are many options for this. I would wait until a retailer has a sale like GC with there 50-100$ off coupons and then pick it up.

I agree with what most are saying about why they wouldn't sell the S4 as just a controller and I could go on for ages about how it is good for NI to only sell S4s with the software as it only costs a few cents to add the software to the package as thats all it costs to manufacture a disk

but im just saying...
I for one would go out TODAY and buy another S4 if it was available at a cheaper price without software.
(maybe even without the TRAKTOR branding all over it,so its more appealing to guys running different software)

and i already have one

BUT YOu.. *clears throat* but you can offset the price by more than a small discount by selling the software that it comes with!!

sure, it's going to cost you more up front but you'll easily get back $200 for the software.

...as for the traktor branding - i'm hearing ya. it would be off putting for fanboys of other software i guess. personally i'd rather have no branding at all - traktor or NI, like the prototypes were.

its not so easy to sell the software when you dont know anyone locally to sell it to or if you dont have a pay pal or even a credit card
