you know, I'm going to say it. Im pretty sure most of the nero 'live' show is pre made.

I've seen it 3 times now, and it's been flawless. i know the tracks well, so I knew which bits were different, and its definitely a really coherent set they do. BUT.. there was no mistakes. and I refuse to believe a proper live show can have no mistakes 3 times in a row. I'm on the opinion that a 'live' act should be showing what they are doing. otherwise, whats the point? seriously. raise up and tilt your gear forward so we can at least subconsciously see you 'playing' the track. also, one of the times I swear they dressed up to look like people from the matrix. with the dark sunnies on and all. and i couldn't take that seriously. they stood there like robots too.

maybe its just me, but if Im paying lots of money to see a DJ play, I wanna see them go nuts. exactly like skrillex does. I go to an awful lot of shows, but skrillex is one of the few that I go back to every time I can (like 8 times now, and a few more coming up). why? because each set is different, he gets on the mic, stage dives, bounces around the stage like a goon, plays all sorts of tracks and mixes up his set a lot. it all makes everyone excited.

a few of you mentioned knife party, so I should probably chip in.. since Ive been to 4 of their sets, ranging from underground car park, to warehouse, to a club and a 10,000 person venue.

its super hit and miss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0LFnkLUmjY this was the start of the best set of my life (potentially my favourite hour ever, definitely top 3). seriously mind blowing experience. perfect set. perfect venue. perfect speakers (funktion ones setup on the pain threshold, which is just what I want).

but sometimes they just don't give a crap. rob stands there with a grumpy face for 45 mins without even a head nod. gareth makes a few token efforts. and sometimes rob doesn't even make the effort with the tracks either, just playing bits of stuff randomly, and not bothering to create much of a atmosphere.

I guess when you've done as much as they have, some gigs just aren't going to get you excited.

I saw Nero October last year at Parklife in Brisbane they were on a small side stage at the same time slot that Gossip and MSTRKRFT were on the bigger stages. Definite fuck up by the organizers the bigger stages were dead and the smaller stage was absolutely packed for Nero. They killed it, really awesome vibe. The sound system was a bit disappointing due to it being a smaller side stage but can't really hold that against anyone except the organizers for thinking Gossip and MSTRKRFT would draw bigger crowds.

Best live performance I ever saw was Chase & status at Rock Werchter 2011, luckily only one dude got a broken nose, the good people over at Prodigy Warrior Dance Festival weren't so lucky 23 people lost their lives in a wall of death.

I'm just trying to say, these people were masters at getting the crowd involved.

When the Mothership tour came to Vancouver Knife Party joined in for the second (all ages) show. It was an amazing concert. Nadastrom, Two Fresh, 12th Planet, Knife Party and Skrillex all in one night.
