No, I decided to wait a bit more because I'm also looking for a new mixer and found a good deal at ebay, I'm not in a hurry since I got my DJ2.

My first turntable was a reloop. What fun memories Basically you needed to glue your hand to the pitch fader and constantly Re-Pitch (not Re-Loop) your record or else all was lost. Try to adapt this technique to a Technics and you'll wind up wrecking every mix

Also...they guys working there are real hoots. And I've been to the Münster store in person...

First of all, hello everyone at DJTT, this is my first post but I have been lurking unregistered for a while.

I have a Reloop Digital Jockey 2 Interface Edition for about a week now and if anyone's still interested, here's my initial impressions.

Firstly, I haven't been able to do a proper test as I cut the tip off my right hand's middle finger (my main mixing finger as Ali G put it) so you can imagine I haven't been in my best shape the last week. Still, here's what I think so far.

My previous controller was a Behringer BCD2000 and I don't think I'm overstating things saying that even a toaster would have been a worthwhile upgrade. I am sorry I can't compare it to the VCI-100, as I never tried it, but I thoroughly and sincerely hate it's looks and that alone made me look for a different controller.

What first struck me is the weight and the overall build quality. It feel sturdy and not cheap and plasticky (like the BCD2000). It's quite heavy and has very large rubber feet so it won't glide on my desk like the BCD did.

Some of then knobs, ie the pushable rotary encoders do feel a bit wiggly but I don't think I'll have any issues with them. The buttons are solid and make a nice click when pushed.

The jog wheels are fantastic imo. They have rubber edges and just feel great when used. I get the feeling I'm using a CDJ100 and that can only be a good thing. You can use them to pitchbend, search through a track, scratch, control dry/wet param of effects, and even browse (open close folders too) through your library and all these right out of the box. the have a bit of inertia when turned, something that I find quite nice. The interface Edition, which I have features touch sensitive jogs, which when in scratch mode instantly stops the track when touched.

The faders have a nice steady glide and feel good when used, a lot like on PRO DJ mixers.

The SHIFT options makes it real easy to control 4 decks in Traktor, but contrary to how it's advertised, certain workarounds and tweaks are in order before you can safely say you can control 4 decks.

This is my single and biggest gripe with the product. SHIFT functionality is less than what I expected. Official support regarding this issue is almost inexistant. For instance, critical things like CUE monitoring for decks C & D require a bit of fiddling around with mapping before being able to use them.

Sound quality is nothing to write home about at a very standard 16bit/48kHz but I found it was quite decent.

There are several updates to firmware, asio drivers, and mappings, all available on the official forums all freely downloadable.

To conclude, after being overly hyped about this unit before I even ordered it, to my initial disappointment with support and the product being not exactly as OUT-OF-THE-BOX as advertised I can safely say I am now terribly happy with it. Build quality is great, functionality is very good.

Hope you find this quasi-review usefull.

Zgomot, thanks for the review! Being in the position of seriously debating getting the DJ2 IE myself, can you add anything to your initial review after having used it for a bit?

    Thanks

Yeah, you need to really bug Support if you want the to actually address your issues, as they tend to slack a bit. I think I've heard someone say they're all hippies.

If you just want a controller to dj using 2 decks, FX and loops, this is a no-brainer. Go out and get it now. If you're really into 4deck beat juggling... you're in for a bit of work and some midi remapping.

Overall, I am still quite pleased with the unit.
