    Apparently I've ruffled some feathers.

Posted in the other thread, but I feel it's relevant here. Says it all, NI has a good amount of time and money invested in the Remix decks, and they seem to think that it has some work to do before it's ready for all the power users to get a crack at it. Let them make a few bucks so they can pay they're staff, or go spend 3 times as much money for an Ableton license and an APC40.

It was promoted as the great Traktor Pro 2.5 update introducing the new remix decks (with the 16 sample matrix as key feature) that would be given for free to all registered users. And now they tell us: The main functionality won't be usable without further investments. This is very cheeky!

All I will say is this: companies who built a name and a reputation using a certain business model typically do not fair well when they try to change that business model.

It would be cool if there was say an evaluation period of like 14-30 days or something wherein you could utilize the full remix decks, then if you felt like they where a necessity you could go out and purchase the F1.

I would hate to pay the full price from NI only to find out that I don't really care for the remix decks, then have to sell the F1 on craigslist/whatever for half the price. Therefore I will wait until I see used F1's popping up on craigslist and purchase one. If I don't like it, I can always resell it at no loss of value

I wonder if they posted that update as a result of the massive backlash they have been receiving?

I very much doubt it, a few dozen people on an internet forum is hardly what I would call "massive".

If you can name some companies it would put more weight behind your argument but I've said this as well. Something doesn't feel right about the way they are doing this.

Bragged about how they're giving away 2.5 as a free update (would ave been pissed if it was a paid upgrade).

2.5 is not really a free update as the main touted feature is a paid upgrade per controller.
