i mean yeah, its impressive and ill probably never reach his skill in scratching and controllerism but isnt the music what actually counts when being a dj/live performer? i mean im all for turntable/controller routines as long as they sound good, but this somehow just doesnt... wouldn't listen to it if it was on my ipod...
however, still mad skills and big respect.
There is no way that you can do what Shiftee just did and have it sound like it was produced.
Its just not gonna happen....its LIVE.

However, this is what Beardyman is trying to do with his Beardytron 5000.
Whatever you toss into it, it magically makes it sound good on the output.

This is the same technique Mad Zach uses in Ableton, for his jam sessions.
You can jam....but still sound good doing it.

Now Shiftee 'could' REALLY go and get all technical like the above mentioned.... and route through Abelton etc.
But that is not what Shiftee is about. He is showing off the abilities of the Z2 and the NI suite I guess.

He is a scratch DJ first and then controllerist. He is not gonna be doing what he did in the video, to a crowd that is wanting to dance. I cant see Shiftee keeping that pace up for an hour solid.

    Its a routine....not a Live version of a track...not a cover....just a routine.

However, I will say....that the music produced by Shiftee...is not in my taste range.
Its a bit too ecclectic and hiphop-ish for me.

But I still LOVE his style and will watch everything he puts out on the net....for sure.

It may be based around a shit remix of an even shitter Kanye West tune, but hip-hop it ain't. Trap may be the thing that all the kiddies are jumping on at the moment, even though it's been around for years, but the way he's manipulating it in that video isn't hip-hop at all. The bit that starts at 1:49 is flipping it more into D&B territory, for example. Either way, it sounds like the sort of shit that the "here's my 15 minute 'mix' of 3 songs filled with overused effects and knob twiddling" Traktor demographic would eat up and therefore it's perfect as a product demo video.

If I could buy stock on future Dj's all my money would be on this young lady:

    So good...so young!

I saw a vid of her playing at some club....she was 12 or 13.

Also saw a practice scratch vid of hers and she rips it up....and at the end...gives a real nervous little girl laugh.
It really showed that she is just a kid...that has been doing this a LONG TIME!

Wonder if she will still love it after her teens.... You know how girls are....

DJ Sara is the best female scratch DJ I've ever seen and she's still just a kid! I've been scratching for about as long as she's been alive and she'd whoop my ass in a scratch battle. lol. Hopefully she keeps going and continues to improve, because if that happens she'll be incredible by the time she's 18. Her brother is no slouch on the cut either. I wonder if their dad is a well known DJ.

After watching it a third time I'm more interested in how he got Flux Mode to work with DVS!

Nobody mentioned the sick video editing yet. I love the eye candy in these videos too. Cool little floating icons and camera work. It's great great stuff.

Also, I have something to say to the people who don't like the music or the routine. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect it.
