And the chap that said the NV must have made NI get something out quick in response, I've heard some misguided stuff in my time.
There's nothing on that controller that NI would steal or try to jam into a controller. I'd be surprised if it raised an eyebrow. I reckon that controller will look dated before year is out.
If it's me you're referring to, I just took an educated guess based on the NV and the USB screen modules for Deckadance that were also announced and thought that might be what NI might have come up with in response or have been working on for a while in secret instead (probably more likely, IMO). Also given the display capabilities of the Maschine Studio with regards to waveforms and so forth, it's not too inconceivable for an upcoming flagship controller series to incorporate it along with some new unannounced functions and features, as they can raid the Studio parts bin for the screens and incorporate them fairly easily.

Understandably, NI won't say anything just yet until the time is right, but I would imagine all the same they are constantly working on new things to push digital DJing much further than Serato or Deckadance. It'd be naive to think otherwise.

I agree I think this will be the logical step forward with Traktor controllers since Maschine studios upgrade

Yeah of course the next obvious step is for NI to bring out a controller with screens. That's a pretty obvious assumption.
What they will NOT do is base anything on some half baked product that has been quickly brought out to bag some sales before every company brings out such machines... which they are no doubt working on as I type.

My point was that NI don't do knee jerk reactions. It's naive to think that NI are ever going to rush a controller out just because the competition is doing so.... Peeps need to remember that there were a plethora of controllers available and for a number of years and NI didn't even appear to have any interest in making a controller. The X1 came along in it's own sweet time.

wow...that's a pretty strong worded statement unless you had a hand-on experience with the NV.

Maybe but I think it's a basic midi controller with a couple of screens. Seems like an attempt at jumping the competition at something that will probably be the big thing on all new controllers. It's an attempt at getting some of the existing popular Pioneer market. I don't blame them but I don't see anything new that deserves the marketing line "this changes everything".

If NI bring an S4 out with 2 screens as the big selling point I will say that is 'half baked' as well. There's so much clamour on these forums for screens, it's like our lives are blighted without them.

I'm just not a fan of the CDJ direction of all these kinds of controllers. Of course, if and when I play on an NV and I like it I'll say so.
I don't dislike Numark at all.

The NV looks cheap to me as well. But looking at the hype it's generating I can imagine they'll sell a ton of them. From a business perspective it's a good idea.

When you look at the midi fighter twister and the digital warrior you can imagine that it wouldn't take a genius at NI to think "hey, lets just put that into the next version of Traktor" and call it a Maschine deck or something.
They can do something a lot more simple than that. Offer some kind of "the bridge" between Traktor and Maschine. Brings more incentive for Traktor users to add a Maschine as well instead of a Push.

Perhaps that bridge might have something to do with Komplete. I mean, there is already integration between Komplete and Maschine as it is, so perhaps Komplete could end up with some form of compatibility with Traktor, particularly with regards to the remix decks which is where I could see some potential. Dare say they might add a new piece of hardware called the Komplete Step or something similar.

Matter of fact, was talking to a mate a while back regarding maybe joining his band for a couple of performances and dropping in some samples via Traktor using the Remix Decks, though he uses Ableton so would be a bit tricky unless I can slave my Z2 and so forth to the MIDI output from his setup to keep everything in time. Such a bridging device like I mentioned above could fit the bill, particularly if it has MIDI in and out connections to work with non-NI equipment.

Problem is, you are a moderator. People here have had posts deleted for less than that.

And NI only advantage is their software, they never bring anything hardware related that can be called inovative (actually......USB hub on Z2.....don't know if that's plain sad actually), yet their marketing is 10x louder and I don't see you posting about that.

I ain't deleted anybodies posts for dissing equipment, anybodies. There are people on DJTT that dine out on slagging NI gear off. I barely raise and eyebrow cus it's not worth the hassle.

What has being a mod got to do with anything? Not sure if you are aware of this but us 'unpaid' mods are just members with admin rights. I can express whatever opinion I like. I don't have to play anyones game or tow a party line

I think you will find (if you so cared) that I am a harsh critic of NI's. People tend to ignore the criticism I post and just concentrate on the positive. That's fine, I'm used to it. It has been like that since the day I took the mod role on.

When/if NI come out with a daft statement like that of Numark I will jump all over it.

I expect people to infer that I am not impartial. It goes with the territory... meh.
