no, didn't say that. accepting that you have a price is esoteric, and the price doesn't have to be in terms of money, but money will pay for any service that you want.
say for example, someone payed me ONE Billion dollars to play a pre recorded set. maybe the set sucked, and it was really boring, but im now going to take that ONE Billion dollars and end police brutality. i'll take that money, go to congress, wave a big ol bag of money in their face, and somehow make sure that type of behavior does not exist.
see, i have morals.

money is just a highly liquid form of trade, depending on the type of currency used (E.G. an american dollar is more widely accepted than a zimbabwe dollar).
im sure if someone told you that you could end world hunger if all you had to do was play a prerecorded set and jump around with a birthday cake and threw monitors at people in the crowd, take your 1 billion dollar pay check, and then spend 1 billion dollars to somehow turn "Raining with a Chance of Meatballs" into a reality over the impoverished nations of the world.
It can realistic too. Its the holidays, and the homeless people in your neighborhood are without any holiday cheer. you want to give back to the community. but that takes recourses and most importantly money. a local promoter loves you and so do your fans. however, the promoter wants to play a prerecorded set of your own music, your own style, everything that would make it your own. but prerecorded. he is willing to give you 1000 dollars. you would take it and spend it on some holiday cheer, and everyone would say "wow Mostapha is so altruistic. putting the ego aside to make other people feel better. what a great person."
But the point is, everyone has their price. some have a price much higher than anyone is willing to pay, and that is where you fit in. Thats nothing to be ashamed of.

Last time I looked Aoki wasn't nominated for philanthropist of the year.

im not saying he is. what you do with your money is your business, and what Aoki does with his money is his business. But you can pay someone to do anything,
some people just have prices that are higher than others.

These arguments are getting stupid.
Let's keep things grounded in reality instead of dreaming up situations that any "economist" knows will never happen.
In this reality, there are a lot of things I wouldn't do for the real money anyone would offer, and miming a recorded set is one of them.
its actually a fairly grounded situation that outlines one end of an extreme to another. because somewhere between 1 billion dollars with world hunger ending and zero dollars and your dignity is the price that you would take to play a pre recorded set. Thats the point.
There is only one thing in the world that i am absolutely certain about, and that is everyone has their price to do anything.

In a capitalist economy maybe. But if you are not a capitalist you don't care about money and thus don't have a "price".
Cash doesn't cure all ills.
But this is getting ridiculous. No one is ever going to offer me a billion dollars to play a prerecord set.
Prerecorded sets have their place. If I'm paying to go to a particular club because it's cool or hipster a la Vegas then Im not there to see a DJ. You can play the bagpipes for all I care (I wouldn't be seen dead in a place like this) However, if I'm paying to see a DJ then I'm there to hear them choose tunes based on the crowds reaction. I want to hear those tunes mixed on the fly in the style that makes that DJ who they are. I'm paying to see a human being enjoy their craft whilst also understanding that it's the crowd that puts them there. No ego, no bullshit, no iPod, no prerecorded set. I don't even give a shit about the light show.
Saying that a DJs job is no longer just to mix records sounds insane to me. Every DJ I've seen this year has basically 'JUST' mixed records. 2,3 maybe even 4 records on occasion but that's their main job. I don't want a gateaux in the face, I don't want to be flogged to death by a beatmasher I want to hear great music moulded together into one long musical experience. But that could just be me.
