Cool, I'll try a heavier weight. The slipmats are some no-name brand made for a DJ I've never heard of. I'll grab a new pair.

I'd try a sheet of plain paper under the mats you've got 1st m8.
I tried allsorts of papers and baking accessories when I 1st got decks .... greaseproof, waxed, baking parchment, Teflon, ptfe, record covers, plastic sheets .... lol
I don't recommend waxed paper as the wax will rub off onto the platter and the slipmat.
A layer of baking parchment under zomo or slicmat style mats is my preferred setup.

As I say, you want to be able to place your hand on the vinyl to stop the vinyl and let it go without the dots on the platter being effected. Then you know you're not wearing out the motor when you're cueing n manipulating the vinyl.

I've had whitelabels and replacement styli before and they skip when cueing when new, allot more than m447's. I don't scratch but have heard they are capable. If you have them set up with the tone arm height to 0 and about 3 grams on them they should be fine once they are worn in. Provided you aren't heavy handed.

$400 later lol. Both tone arms were bent to shit, so I needed new ones. RCAs were bad so replacing those. Had some grounding issues. And after all that, my homey told me to ditch my Whitelabels and get some M477s. Yay vinyl!

Honestly, I'm not mad. Really loving the feel of vinyl. I'm not hurting for money so I want the best quality players for my records. The wife actually bought the M477s for me since she's curious to learn on turntables now. Already put the XDJs up on Craigslist.

On a side note, what most likely caused the tonearm and mount to get so fucked was the beautiful cases they traveled around in. There are clear indentations inside the cases where it looks like the turntables were smooshed.

It's funny that these turntables were actually listed on ebay as being in perfect condition. Can't imagine why he would've advertised them as such. The guy lives 2 hours away; not really in the mood go all Taken on him lol.
