I used to use laptop, but i decided the feel of receiving messages about the penis enlargement and refinancing my home at "aMaZiNg RaTeS" was better when it came in on my carrier pigeon.

I only respect real scammers that can get me through some good old fashion ink and paper. SCAMMERS THESE DAYS ARE ALL POSERS.

I only use that argument whenever somebody drops the "real Dj" card, and so far nobody has had a comeback because they realize they have double standards since they dont play real instruments and i can easily tag them as Guitar Hero babies.

Of course i use it because im shielded since i studied music and i can play at least a couple of instuments.

my bad , i didnt really read this entire 4 pages of replies, and didnt notice you were being sarcastic. :P

Before it's closed. Francois K has shared his opinion.. a very good one at that:
    Dear Kenny,

I have spent some time reading your post about recent misadventures with guest DJs at your club night. The way I see it, you may be setting yourself up for a lot here in setting these arbitray rules, but more to the point it perplexes me a bit that you’ve not identified the problem at hand.

So in the spirit of your party’s name, let me explain it in simple terms.

    PART 1: THE CAUSE

-1) Technology is changing ever so rapidly. We are all witnesses to this in our everyday lives, and music is no different.

-2) You probably spent a significant amount of resources designing a DJ booth according to what you thought it should be. But obviously it wasn’t designed with it in mind that this setup should accommodate quick changeovers from multiple hardware configurations.

-3) The many guest DJs you are inviting are bringing their own hardware which doesn’t correspond to your technical specifications and are unable to do so because what you’ve built is only oriented to one brand of equipment, which leads to intractable technical problems, tensions and unfortunate accidents during the course of the evening.

    PART 2 : THE CURE

-1) In retrospect, you will have to admit that perhaps your choice of brand-specific hardware setup may not have been the wisest one as it considerably limits the options available for your guest DJs to use the gear they own and bring to your venue. Rather than taking it out on the guests, one would think it wise to show the flexibility of rethinking your original design approach, since that is obviously what has become a bottleneck.

-2) Therefore, and very logically, rather than forcing your guests to use your hardware (which does sound a bit heavy-handed, if you don't mind me saying so), the only option available to you is to completely redesign your DJ booth to not be so brand-specific to one manufacturer’s equipment. But this time make it open in a manner that will allow for multiple gear configurations to be used by the many DJs passing through your doors, and that can be set up simultaneously without disturbing the flow of the evening.

-3) There are ways to do this so that the wiring behind the mixer and whatever else never gets touched, it obviously requires a bit more of a professional sound studio installer approach (rather than club), using bespoke multi-pin connectors, pre-wired cable looms, remote patch panels and other specialized hardware that could suddenly turn an otherwise complex switchover into an operation that only ever takes a few seconds to reliably perform. It could even be that the mixer itself is made to be interchangeable with custom professional lock-on multi-pin connectors. Your budget is the only limit to this.

-4) While I would dearly love to offer you my professional services to solve this simple problem for you and make some $$ out of it, sadly I am not currently in this line of business at this time, so you’ll have to find some other company willing to do this for you.

    SUMMARY :

Please don’t blame the CAUSE, find a CURE instead!

    Yours truly,

    FK

Do you remember how oldschool Djs used to write the tempos on the actual vinyl labels? that was because that saves time and they could use that time to do something else instead. Someone could actually bite back and say "well you are using turntables with pitch bend.. thsoe are toys you should leanr how to play on real turntables with no pitch bend".
"Twist a knob to match tempo"

    Classic.

You are being exactly the sort of elitist you are complaining about. Its obvious you dont have fundamental DJ skills, so abusing other people for their lack of musicianship is kind of hilarious when they are likely better at the subject at hand than you are.

I care not for elitists. All that Kenny Summit has done is show that he is an arrogant bastard who is deliberately ignorant.

Exactly - he's a good producer but he's only been in the game a few years so how anyone can call hime a legend is beyond me.

    That's a legend, right there.

But - it's a house club - you do't need anything more than a USB stick or some Cd's so I see his point - but going on about needing skill on a CDJ is ridiculous - it's no easier or harder than using traktor or serato

I don't think you understand. This one machine is much more important than the other because it doesn't have a big ol' screen. CDJs will never have screens on them and that's the beauty of-
