Just out of interest, how are you switching between real vinyl and control vinyl with the audio 8 and the lack of ins on the DB4?

On the Audio 6/10 you have the thru feature which means you could just switch it in the software...

I've never had an audio 8 but i used to have serato where you plugged into the separate phono ins on the same channel as the line in and changed it on the mixer (which the DB4 doesn't have).

Is it fiddly or straight forward to switch between vinyl and control vinyl?

I don't use multicores- just TTs to audio 8 and audio 8 to DB4. If I really wanted to use real vinyl you can select thru in traktor.

if you really want to use multicores you can with the DB4 but it takes up all the analog inputs- connect the thru to separate analog input channels on the db4 and when you want to go thru and use vinyl use the inout matrix and select the thru channels (when I tried this it was 2 and 3, 1 and 4 were used from audio from traktor).

I use my SL box but use the DB4 built in interface to record. I have the record out routed to a channel of the USB interface in clean feed mode.

The inputs on the db4 mean I would never buy it. I'd probably try to avoid using it in a club if possible.

Seriously, IDK what they were thinking. The stuff I already use would take up more inputs than it has, and I'm not willing to change just for effects that I don't want.

I think it's always been abundantly clear that you don't fit into most companies' target markets mate

For at least 99% of real DJing applications, when are you going to need more than 4 stereo analogue inputs? If you're using non DVS software you have a built in interface that's excellent. If you're using DVS you have inputs for 4 decks which is surely ample, and if you want to play real vinyl or CDs here and there that's why we have thru mode. If you're just using CDJs you have digital inputs and analogues.

So far the only disadvantage I see is that you can't use the direct through feature of multicore cables for more than 2 decks, which I doubt many will see as a massive problem.

I do enjoy your rants mostapha, but I do think you're often far too quick to write something off for having a small feature you don't like. If you don't want the FX, the DBs were never going to appeal to you anyway.

There's really no need for more than the 4 stereo in pairs on the DB4.

It only affects people using first generation DVS soundcards that were designed to use multicores or two sets of RCAs like on the SL1, and if I'm spending $2200+ on a digital mixer and I really was serious about using DVS I would just get a proper A10 or SL4 and it wouldn't matter.

You can still run 4 decks plus a 5th channel running Maschine on the DB4 just fine which is what quite a few people do.

Hell you can still run 4 turntables (with latest firmware and soft RIAA) and 4 CDJs all connected at the same time just fine on the DB4 with the digital inputs.

    Current:
    1. TT 1
    2. TT 2
    3. DVS 1
    4. DVS 2
    5. Maschine

    Ideal:
    1. CDJ 1
    2. CDJ 2
    3. TT 1
    4. TT 2
    5. Octatrack

I'm not willing to use a thru mode, even if I upgraded to an SL4. It's a pointless flaw masquerading as a feature.

The 04 pro IV can do it, and it's a 2-channel mixer. There's no reason for the db4 not to.

It's a really sad day when I would choose Pioneer over A&H.

If you use the digtial IO, I guess it'd be fine. It's just limiting for no good reason.
