Traktor lays a grid over the track with a point on every beat (in theory, see the myriad of threads and videos on beatgridding properly in traktor), so all you have to arrange is the phrasing and it stays in sync automatically.

It's a case of using pitch bend and faders or not, not keeping tracks in time or not!
LOl with a thread titled: beat matching do you or dont you

I gusse i misunderstood. Alright now we know where we are at.

I learned to spin on vinyl by ear. same with cdjs i never had those fancy ones with the bpms (not that i would trust those anyways) my first and only cdj was the sony cdj-100 old skool little thing. But alas i learned to match beats and transition via ear. listening to other dj mixes with tracks i knew (thank you Fat boy slim, Dj Darky etc) to learn transitioning.

so when i moved to abelton i didnt really have much of a learning curve to overcome. I just warp manuely because i feel the auto warp is a bit off somtimes and feel i can do a better job.

So here's the thing how do u know ur tracks are on 100%? if u just trust auto sync or whatever its called in traktor, how do u know? are u comfortable enough to fix it on the fly if its off? Becuase in ableton If i hear somthing off I can fix it on the fly. do you sync your tracks and then mix them with other tracks as a sort of battery test?

I dont think everyone need to learn the old skool way of beatmatching(two turntables and a microphone, opps i mean mixer), I mean not anymore, vinyl's dead. But if there tracks go off in the middle of a set Can they fix it or do they look like a fool and just backspin like tiesto(goofball)? Do they even know its off. I cringe when I hear off beats in a dj set, it like hurts my ears. I now the floor barely notices, but I do.

I think the thread is a bit missleading as it sounds like djs dont want to mix tracks they just wanna scratch & crossfade, which is cool for top 40 hiphop, and other non EDM type music.

MY two cents sorry for the rant.

That's pretty much the essence of this thread lol. You can very easily fix it on the fly in Traktor and therein is the reason I argue beatmatching should be in a digital DJ's skill set.

Djtom, I agree with certain things you say. But you say Vinyl is dead? That isn't true.

Ok this is so off topic here.

But yes vinyls dead. the day technic end production of the 1200/1210 is the day vinyl died. Mark your calendars we can have a holiday or day of remembrance whatever. If you still dj with vinyl you are akin to those kids in the 90's the punk/indie kids that bought vinyl because its cool and not mainstream. No vestex/numark or any other manufactured TT will ever be as reliable as a technic 1200/1210.

God what would have happened if I said that the CD is dead? It is FYI....
