i kind of agree with you there, but, I have been playing in bands since high school, probably 1 or 2 gigs a month since i turned 19. I know I can play guitar, and half decently. That goes for djing a well, but i find when i'm playing guitar, i can really zone out and not think about it. Its not that its really easy music to play either(i play in a 3 peice funk band). With a dj gig, you have got to have your shit together, there isn't much downtime, and its constant multitasking.

    cheers!!

likening it to a guitarist i think is a falacy in logic.

Compare it more to like....say...keys player for a synthpop band. lots of multitasking and lots of work, performing and you gotta have your stuff together

    i had to dictionary.com fallacy...ouch...

but, i see what you are saying, and you are right. DJing is not the same as playing guitar, but that was kind of what i was getting at. I have to learn to think before i write i guess (i just took the term "performer" and went on a bit of a tangent). I normally don't post message boards, but iv'e been reading this one for a while, and yas seem like a good bunch, just thought i'd try to get in on the convo.

I don't think Moniker was callin you stupid or anything, Tim. Feel free to engage in the discussion. If this had been like other forums there would have been a lot more colorful words expressing her disgust of your brain.

    So yeah. Thread on!

i wasnt insulting anyone. I was just saying if you compare it to a keys player the "performer" word applies much better!

i have to say, that u shoulndīt judge over all the djīs who donīt know how to hook up in a club. i started djing with traktor and a mouse (not knowing how to dj with cds ore vinyl) and i kept on rocking traktor...till one day a friend told me that ihe is doing a party at a small local club and asked me if i could dj there. i said yes. and then i thought...hm what mixer what cables and so on.
so i went to an electronic store in my city an asked them how i can hook up my stuff and they told me how to.
i was lucky cause the guy who told me how to do it was a dj 2 and he said i could practise vinyl and cds at the store.
what i am trying to say is...blame on djs who donīt check out how it all works...but i hadnīt the chance to go to this store i wouldnīt know how to do it...
hm...i hope u understood what i was trying to say

That's what I'm saying. You took the extra step and checked out how to do it.

You didn't show up to a club as a "rockstar DJ" and not have any clue what you're doing. You asked someone something.

Obviously I don't hold blame on all digital DJs, being I am one
