That's the Dutch house influence (Major Lazer etc.). Moombahton is, among other things, a combination of Dutch house and raggaeton, so if you don't like those you probably won't like moomba. That being said, I do like those and don't like moomba.

yeah the beats are alright. if it was more melodic and the lead synth bits were more techhno/techhouse or bassmusic influenced i think i could get on with it.

is there a sub-genre of it like that?

Not that I know of and I sort of doubt it given that it's a defining characteristic of Moombahton, but I could be wrong.
