Its not always about more possibilities. I can do just about anyjing I can think of with an iPad or APC40 and Ableton, but I still prefer to mix on CDJs 99% of the time. It doesn't matter how much stuff you can do if all you want to do is mix 2 tracks with an interface that works for you.

    No flac support!

SSL does that have that awesome layout though, the last one with the details on the left and the waveforms to the right, makes so much more sense for 4 deck mixing than traktor's nonsensical 2 sets of 2.

If you guys think less is more you should try xwax. I love how minimal it is. Library management is total crap though. I do wish there was a way to rescan folders and maybe add additional ones after the program has been started.

edit: lol I've never heard anyone say that it's easier to carry a laptop, an interface and CDs than it is to carry just CDs before ;P

ALAC. I just converted my flac stuff with a free trial install of a converter, and make it a point to get alac now. Problem solved

    That's a pretty poor solution.

It doesn't even make sense that they don't have flac support, it's free unlike mp3 etc.

How is that a poor solution? I'm all ears buddy... and lets skip the obvious statements of "well it SHOULD be there". Its not, so as far as current options for serato thats going to be your best bet. Takes like 5 minutes of "effort"...

Including another encoder would take next to nothing in the way of effort. I can do it for xwax in 2 mins. I don't see why someone can't just spend a few hours doing it and then they've made their product a superior one and it's another then to announce.

Forcing your users to decode and reencode their library is completely laughable. This market seriously needs more healthy competition so laughable and lazy issues like these are resolved.

Default So.. Im switching to serato tonight

I want to switch to serato but I don't want to go through the hassle of sellin my dn x1600 and getting a new mixer and sl box. I don't really use traktor fx anymore and enjoy mixing out of the box. I never use more than 2 decks + sample decks and really just want a more simple layout.
Why get a new mixer? Couldn't you just get a SL-box and hook it up to your x1600?
Short on funds ATM and would need to do a 1-1 swap. Another reason for wanting an sl box was so I could play out and not have to lug my mixer everywhere since my mixer is my soundcard/scratch pro 2 input. I was thinking of just getting an audio 4/6/8/10 too, but I'm on the fence about whether I want to switch or not.

Maybe but for what ever reason they haven't. I'm not going to go thru the trouble of redoing my whole library just because I'm too indignant to spend five minutes converting my collection and being mindful of what format I DL in the future. Maybe they haven't bothered because in the time it took for me to type this on my phone on a work break I could have already took care of the issue myself...

Hide the traktor global selection- BAM. You've got Serato. (with it's effects + sampler hidden.) May as well try it until you decide to buy an SL box.

edit: Yeah, I'm not saying it's not something I would do. I'm saying it's a problem the software undeniably has. Not crippling but it really should be like that.

Yeah definitely I'm not sure why NI is so stubborn about offering different deck layouts, seems like they just don't want to 'look' too much like serato.
