I dunno- how much usable information could they get from it? I don't think you could easily reverse engineer it. I believe the real magic is from the manufacturing methods rather than the gear itself.

Wouldn't something directly understandable be more profitable, like source code for tons of modern software? Or information on future natural disasters? Or scientific journals documenting modern discoveries?

I would patent the idea (if possible) of Timecode and i would become what N2IT has been over the last 10 years.

DUDE YOU HAVE A TIME MACHINE AND YOU'RE FOCUSING ON DJING?
+ If you think being a badass DJ will get you more bitches than being rich you need to open your eyes dude :P

@Karlos That's actually a really nice idea. It's simple enough that you could explain the basics of it to a team of people and actually set about making it using technology readily available.

Then I'd take 3 of those...gotta have backups.

I agree with others. I wish it was still two turntables and a mixer. All focus was on music finding and skills back then.

It annoys me now that I have to constantly feel like i haven't quite got the equipment I need even though it's perfectly adequate and good.

I preferred it when I just stressed about not having enough tunes.

I feel life is a constant wait for the next NAMM or BPM and then being disappointed when the perfect controller isn't released.

I use technology in djing, embraced it early and love and defend it but i'm not "happier" for it. It's a pandora's box that now opened can't be closed.

I miss record shopping and the rush of discovering a rare banger

I basically use the same equipment people were using in 1999 anyway, so I wouldn't take any DJ equipment back. There's no point taking hardware back if the software/media will be wiped from it apart from to say "look at this futuristic piece of shit that doesn't even work cos it's been wiped!". Maybe I'd take my mixer. In fact, yeah, I'd take my mixer and a sports almanac like Marty McFly in Back To The Future 2.

I'd bring one of these and made sure it became a well known gimmick.

Curious what would happen a few years later...
