Do we really need Jog wheels in this day and age though? I'm pretty much hooked on the new hard ware and software, would really cut my set up down to a third of what it is right now, but the only hold up is the jog wheels.

Never had a need for them, nor a want to use them. Plus they take up a LOT of real estate on the controller to boot.

Would be awesome if they came out with a version minus the jog wheel/pitch slider and added some extra knobs/buttons.

And also on that note, the mixer isn't an actual analog mixer right? So I can still make my own mappings for the EQ's if I wanted? Been mixing with 4 band EQ for so long it would just feel awkward and unnatural going back to a 3 band EQ

That's really too bad. Is there a way to switch internally in the software without having to load another config file? I really wish the 2 "live inputs" were actually analog mixer channels and didn't have to go through the software. That means if you crash, no audio.
Check again the pictures of the back panel to answer yourself the question of "crash, no audio". Channel D's inputs have a hardware switch to go directly to main outs. Luckily, there are also gain buttons on the back to adjust the volume of the outs which route directly to the mains. Seems acceptable for the "oh, shit" case when the software dies.

As per the "live inputs" - check Shiftee's demo video and pay attention what his screen shows on CHannel D when he is mic-ing on his headphones. The decks can be switched to play the live feeds from the inputs.

I believe that it should be flexible enough and we should not be worried with these. Not saying that there are no limitations. Just saying that it gives the flexibility.

    Cheers!

I want at the very least one jog wheel for FX and scrubbing through tracks and browser windows. Two is better though.

If you have been a "digital dj" since day one I can see where you're coming from. However if you are a dinosaur (like me) and started on TTs or CDJ's, jogs are second nature.I am lost without them.

I thought we had this discussion already.

It has jog wheels cus its for people who want to scratch but dont wanna use decks.

These jog wheels are like nothing available...

If people want a controller that doesnt have jogs then the KS4 isnt the one for them.

    Get 2 X1s.

After 6 months of scrolling through tracklists in the browser with the rotaries on the X1, I'd say jogs are pretty damn sweet for this purpose alone.

I got my first turntables and mixer when I was 14, that's a little over 13 years ago. Still have my 1200's and CDJ's at home, but I'm all about digital mixing now. If you want to scrub just get an endless rotary knob and be done with it.

Like I said, it's taking up a lot of real estate for only offering such a limited function. And once you set up your load, loop and cue points there should never really be a need to scrub through a track even.

As for two X1's, I would but they are very limited in what they offer for the price, and there isn't even a "mixer" section or anything you could map out to act like a mixer. It's more like a controller to compliment a DVS set up and not a full on controller set up.

Scratching. If you scratch its not such a limited function, its a major part of your act.

If thats the only function i use them for ill be happy.

I very much doubt ill use them in Browser mode and i never used Jog FX.

Dude I think your underestimating the awesomeness of scratching with Hi-Res Jogs especially these ones.

If you dont scratch then thats cool.

I do (badly) and ill be able to do what i cannot do on my VCI 100 which is scratch with a decent level of success.

I can see your point. Without the jogs there would be buttons galore but NI could only make one All-In-One controller so i guess they went for the lot.
