thanks Mr. Trap. Apparently no one knows why sometimes trap contains annoying synths and sounds tech and other times it's straight ghetto and sounds street. Apparently you could answer why the producers themselves are confused and call it trap, hype, swag, and glitch.
oh yeah and I forgot about grime too.
I'm not attacking the genre, just pointing out an observation. Maybe it's so new that it's looking for a path?

Let's not ruin the thread. Just stick to posting tracks or GTFO.
The analysis of trap in this thread isn't working. So let's just stick to sharing some tracks.
I'd imagine most peeps on this site aren't fans of Diplo, but I love me some Sleigh Bells, so I'll add this track...
nope.
It's not that new buddy. I've been listening to "trap" since 2006. The reason for "annoying" synths is since EDM artists have started making it recently and its not intended to be rapped over. Fitting heavy synth melodies under vocals won't sit right in the mix most often. If you want "straight ghetto" you'll have trouble finding it since the guys who make it have a tight grip on those beats and don't readily give them away.
just uploaded a quick 20 minute mini mix of some of my favourite trap shit

Just to get things straight. My original post was aimed to address the characteristics of TRAP. "What is it exactly" Not . Hey Guys let's post our favorite tracks. As we quickly found out, the genre is complicated. Please go back and read this article that Xonetacular posted (first response) which enforces my point: http://motherboard.vice.com/2012/6/1...-l%C5%8Dtic--2
Quoted form article: "Houston-born, Berlin-based producer Lōtic isn’t impressed. Club kids drawing on the sounds he grew up with doesn’t bother him, exactly. It’s just that, to his ears, most of these so called “trap” tracks are soulless, saccharine approximations of the latest Top-40 trap street hustler hit. He wants to set the record straight for producers claiming inspiration from Trap sounds who have no awareness of the history of mixtape-dependent, car culture-driven, independent touring circuit history of trap rap.
