which evil necromancer raised this thread from the dead? well, thank you

I can't remember if I ever replied to this thread, but my EDM beginnings were, well JesterNZ pretty much summed it up for me, i would add only Proppelerheads and their Decksanddrumsandrockandroll album...
    anyone remember dis one?

and for the DJing? i clearly remember when i downloaded Scratch Perverts vs UNKLE set for BBC's radio 1 show Breezeblock (now - Marry anne hobbs experimental)... after listening to the set like bazillion times in a row i decided that someday i will become a DJ and learn how to scratch (first part is done, now the second part )... Anyway after that it got me hooked up to her show and my today's musical selection is still largely influenced by this very lady.

Jonathan Peters. Been going to his parties for the past 15 years. Soundfactory in NY gave memories that will last a lifetime

MSTRKRFT's BBC radio1 essential mix. I listen to that whenever I get discouraged.

I think it's safe to say that Justice got me back into electronic music and renewed my interest in DJing. Guys like Girl Talk, The Bloody Beetroots and Rusko have kept my interest going.

Daedalus. I really liked exquisite corpse when it came out and then I saw him live. At the time I was used to seeing hiphop acts where the dj was too often a hype man where the beats were canned and the dj was just pressing play on a DAT. And the few bits of electronic stuff I liked and knew of just seemed impossible to me to create in a spontaneous fashion. Daedalus just seemed the complete opposite of what I would expect

With out a doubt Modeselektor. Amazing live show, tons of energy. Their transitions between different genres are seemless. On top of that I dont think I've ever heard a track they produced or remixed that I dont like.

Here they are explaining a bit about their midi setup and custom Jihad patch:
