I dig that a lot lol. I kinda want to make a wood and metal case for my midi fighter now!

never soldered anything in my life but a korg nanokontrol is a cheap place to start. i want to repackage one to use with ableton.
this is the draft with 22 buttons and 9 knobs. i plan to lose the 9 faders unless someone can think of a logical place for them.
a friend of mine has a CNC and has offered to help with the case.

Cool mods.
At some piont I will be revamping my VCI 100. Diff coloured LEDs for some functions and a total respray on the top plate.
Plus sandblasting the clear jog wheels to a frosted finish. ;-)
For text on the buttons I have come up with a professional aplication. Get lettraset... apply to clear acetate squares the same size of the buttons and apply inside the buttons using a thin film of pro photo mount spray. Looks good........ this technique is used in building props for film.
I have worked in film as an Art Director .. and production set designer. ;-) and have a degree in Fine Art. So I know this works... but skill is required and patience.
Woah! Two mods I was thinking of doing on the same page! I've been trying to figure out the best way to frost the clear plastic on my vci100 jogs too! i was considering just sanding the bottom surface, so that it gets a frosted glow from the leds beneath it, but leaving the top and the edge with the original polished finish. That way you can get a bit of the frosted look without there being a porous surface to get all grimey from being handled so much.
