I know what you mean. I have a load of vinyl rips that i thought i would give notes a go on and its not done that well to be honest you can still really tell the difference between my vinyl rips and digital downloads.

It was an older version i used so not sure if the newer version does any better.

I used a friends copy as I was wary about it to be honest. If its as good as everyone seems to say, why can you not get a free trail where you can see how good it is. You have to fork out the money to find out that actually its not great.

I'm sure others will tell you otherwise but my experience of the program wasn't that good

How long had you had the vinyl you were ripping? How many plays?

also, have you guys noticed that PN makes the waveform in Traktor not quite as defined dynamic wise? as in, the kicks dont look as loud?

I don't know if any of you know this, but the current build of Platinum Notes does not support multiple core processing. It utilizes only one core no matter how many cores your processor die has.

Platinum Notes 3 beta actually includes this support, thus drastically improving the processing time on tracks, especially in large quantities. It also includes many other options such as dB level customization, EQ settings, waveform display with side by side comparison, and much more.

If you own Platinum Notes 2, and are running multiple cores on on your rig, you can setup a processor affinity which will dedicate one core to a Platinum Notes instance, and another core to a different Platinum Notes instance - this will actually increase processing time considerably. I would really only recommend this though if you have more than 2 cores, unless you plan on leaving your computer alone while both your cores crunch out the mp3 batches.

Cool. The dB adjustment would save me time running everything through mp3gain afterwards, cheers for the heads up.

    would platinum notes fix this?

i use mp3gain, but i feel like theres still alot of differences in volume. do i have to use the auto gain feature in traktor also?
I would recommend getting Platinum Notes for mp3's from Beatport, you would be surprised how bad the mastering process and general quality of those purchases can be, even if they aren't that audible to begin with.

One particular track had 40,000 repaired clipped peaks, was 10 cents off on the pitch, and was 6dB too loud lol.

I think alot of people assume since Beatport is selling it, that they quality check this type of stuff, but in all reality, the sheer volume of product that they get on a weekly basis makes this virtually impossible to do. The labels are responsible for it, but many clearly lack the resources or effort to make sure this type of stuff gets done before sending it off for publishing.

Anyway, just my input, but yeah, I think you would benefit immensely from Platinum Notes. They also offer lifetime updates for all buyers

+1 on the beatport tracks. Can't say i've got heaps off them but in my experience about 30% of the tracks are a little dodgy, i mean i even snapped them out with one track that was obviously off a mix ffs.

I bought 20 tracks one time, and 6 of them were set rips off a CD compilation, when it was clearly advertised to be a single. They never messaged me, responded, and offered to clear it up. Total bullshit.

I get a few compact sticks off psyshop now. but to me if you are going to use PN you may as well run everything through it, especially purchased tracks.
