I think a more apt analogy would be something like this...

Say you have two girls - we'll call them Girl A and Girl B. Then you have your hand.
Girl A = Beats
Girl B = Amped Sennheiser 650s
Hand = "$20 Sony behind-the-neck headphones"

This whole thing is like someone who has been using their hand for their whole life got wasted and fucked Girl A. Girl A is a massive slut that the guy met at a bar or something. She has massive, oversized tits, an empty head and a poor personality - but that's ok because she has big tits. Anyway, guy fucks girl A, thinks it was great. Says to all his friends, "hey guys, if you want to have a good time, you should hit Girl A up. Shit was SO much better than using my hand," while completely ignoring Girl B. Girl B is this beautiful girl who for whatever reason has had a crush on this guy for years. She doesn't have huge tits, but she's smart, caring and looks amazing naked (but the guy in question does not know this). She's also fuckin crazy in bed (but the guy in question does not know this). So, the guy continues to ignore Girl B since fucking Girl A was great so why bother with anything else, right? Who needs Girl B when Girl A is already great?

That makes more sense to me.

Agreed, but I'm inclined to believe him from what I've read in a lot of his posts. Would be nice to know who he is though since he does claim to tour the world gigging every weekend, and to have played in ministry of sound among others.

I personally have never tried the Beats, and never would. But that, at the moment, is only due to image issues. For me the Beats are something like the new oversized D&G belt-buckles: something for people whose need for attention is only matched by their lack of sense of style

My argument to anyone getting beats is the quality of their music collection. There is NO point getting such an expensive set of headphones if they are playing the latest skrillex song that they ripped off of YouTube! (I end up giving them a slap for not supporting the music industry anyway).

But they aren't at all terrible, but are a overly branded product! The only 'DJs' I see using them are in top40 clubs using very little mixing techniques as possible . .

i have nothing against them, just personally would not own a pair, i could never use them for mixing or producing, ill stick to my xone xd-53s and as soon as they arrive my xd2-53s.

if someone thinks that the beats by dre suit them, wonderful all the more power to them and i hope they enjoy them.
