How could any promoter afford to pay a DJ £100,000 for a 2 hour set? If you fill a 3,000 capacity club, you'd have to make at least £33 from each punter (ticket price and drinks) to even think about breaking even...

surely that figure isn't his standard dj rate.

Pretty sure that figure was quoted as what he was paid by the BBC for his weekly 2hr radio 1 slot.

Darude - Sandstorm. Other than that, there are a few things that surprised me about this list, First, I would have thought Deadmau5 would be higher, same with SHM (odd how to calculate them, separately, or together). I was actually also somewhat pleasantly surprised armin was as high as he is.

If the list is accurate it looks like staying power means alot as far as the bank goes.

Net Worth. Not what they earnt last year - the total value of all their holdings.

So, if the guys who have been around for a while are smart (and being on this list suggests they may qualify as at least "not stupid"), they have investment advisors, an investment portfolio, property, etc - and these investments and property have been increasing in value from the day they started.

The only thing that surprises me is all the people who are surprised.

Yeah, I don't believe any of the figures from the OP. The Forbes one maybe, the rest - nope, I don't buy it.

The Forbes one was pay in the previous year, not Net Worth.

It also factored in some other variables (it was looking for power, not just pure earnings) that is likely to mean people like Darude (to pick an example) don't register. He doesn't get a lot of TV coverage, innit.

The thing us that the DJ's on the list get paid more in Europe then they do in US. That is why their net worth is higher then expected.
