Yeah, it can be stressful but the rewards ($) and perks are enticing. I've gotten paid to eat some pretty fantastic meals. Plus going to different venues keeps it fresh. But if I have to play "Love Shack" one more frickin time...

I live in DC, I price checked other wedding DJs in the area and I've seen guys as high as $2000 for a wedding. It's not nearly as much fun as a party or a club gig, but there's not too many things that are legal that make you that kind of money in one day. Especially given that I DJ on the side.

I can zone out and spin crap music like a BOSS. Doing a wedding this Saturday, actually. Though I'm friends with both of them, so I'm doing it for next to nothing. Was going to be at the wedding anyway, might as well make a little extra money for it. :-)

I paid just about 2 grand for my Wedding DJ. He played most of what I wanted, but most importantly, he knew EXACTLY how much to interact with the guests, and when to hang back. He coordinated everything with meticulous precision & perfect timing, and THAT was what made it worth it.

go to all the local venues in your area where they hold weddings and special events.. like hotels/pubs, country clubs, wineries, function/convention centers, etc and speak to the person in charge of events there and chat with them. they are going to be the people recommending to clients who and what to book for their events.
