I had a similar problem with my setup. Turns out that the ground prong on my laptop charger was causing an interference issue. I know that this may not be safe, but I solved the buzzing noise by using a "cheater plug" or a 3-prong to 2-prong power adapter. It has worked for me for several months with no problem.

Here's a video of my problem and the solution ...

Because if the power needs to drain down the earth and you're touching anything metal on the unit you become the earth.

Yes the EBTech HumX gets rid of the ground loop hum completely while still keeping your equipment safe and grounded. I have been using it for about two years, and it has been worth the $60 I spent on it.

    I reiterate my suggestion! http://www.amazon.com/Ebtech-Hum-Vol.../dp/B0002E4YI8

Using any Macbook charger with the small plug attachment is exactly the same as using a "cheater plug", so I doubt there's much risk.
