tagging music with keywords

To avoid confusion, in this post, I will use the word "tagging" to mean assigning keywords like we are asked to add tags to messages here. That is as opposed to the meaning "any metadata" such as id3 tags.

Is there software that provides convenient interface for assigning tags/keywords and searching by them?

I found that beatpro audio player software provides a decent interface for assigning but it sucks at pretty much everything else and leaks memory like crazy and crashes all the time. I'd like to find somethign better.
