    Default mix challenge idea...

THE LINK YOU ALL BEEN WAITING FOR

so, a couple of years when i used to troll around bijou breaks they did a minimix challenge thing.

set tracklist, no rules. just take the tracks and rock in your own way.

was thinking maybe we should try a similar thing here. have 10 or so tracks, covering the styles that we all play on here.

think it would be fun to do, as
    a) we'd get several different interpretations of the tracks
    b) see in better detail how each other works
    c) by having to work with styles outside of your normal spectrum it would be a good learning experience for all

    what you all think?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Ready, Steady. MIX!!

    Not sure if the show Ready, Steady. Cook made it beyond UK shores. But the premise was;
You have 2 chefs, and 2 contestants. The contestants show up with £5 of stuff they bought in a supermarket and the Chefs had to prepare a meal from it.
Kind of the idea here, we'll throw some choonage at you and you knock out a tasty mix for our aural delights.

The combination will made up of; two breaks, two dubstep, two D&B, two House and two Techno. You can play the tracks in any order, with whatever equipment you want. There is no real set length. Infact no rules other than use the tracks listed, so please don't start asking questions similar to that of an old woman in £1 shop asking how much things cost...

Genre decisions are in the hands of (apologies for spelling mistakes, if any)

    Breaks - ME
    House - photojojo
    Dubstep - weltraumpapst
    Techno - kooper1980
    D&B - Citizen_Insane

We all reveal our choices on tuesday, however i encourage people to post suggestions for tracks in that time. try keep a degree of democracy to this... lol

a friend in vancouver and i are doing this:

he selects (but doesnt mix) 2 tracks, i follow with 2, he follows, and so on, until we have about 16-18 different songs. (currently, we are on songs 9 and 10)

we then mix them, in that order, to our own styles, and then release / exchange when we're done.

so, im a newb, but im definitely down for this type of collaboration. i like to see what songs others pick in relation to my choice, and then hearing it afterwards is a treat.

I think it's a brilliant idea, would definitely participate.

It shouldn't be in a particular order though, so we can see how people structure their mixes differently as well as actually transistion.

yeah any order. just "here's the tracks, crack on"

i will say now, that i suck at organizing things. i'm just an idea man.

but i will throw in a couple of track suggestions for breaks representation; plump djs - boomer and dj quest - loser
