    Default Bootleg Remix?? Copyright??

I have been producing and DJing bootleg remixes for years, it has never bothered me. But this year I have one in particular that I want to include in my end of year mix.

The problem is I know i will not be able to legally sell the mix if i do (beatport, etc...) If i use a different track i should be in the clear.

What are your thoughts on this?? here is the remix in question

Always call it a bootleg, but there is no way to tell if they will flag it.. But since you've got it uploaded already, I'd say the damage has already been done.

yeah, but i have it up as a free track. I want to sell it lol... I will probably end up playing it safe in the end and replacing it.

Unless you can clear the samples used you wont be able to sell it.

BTW that intro gave me the nostalgia shivers

Are you going to be licensing the rest of the tracks in the mix?

    A good way.

You should be able to apply for a mechanical license for the riff, unless i'm mistaken you played it yourself right ?

The good news is normally that kind of license is easier to get for a flat fee as it comes direct from the artist, however it might take a while.

I can check with BMI. everything in that remix was my own self created/played sound. i got the sheet music/tabs from the internet.

    this is the original track

Should be pretty straight forward - I'd love to hear how it works out cost-wise for licensing a riff like that.
