    Default Track control LED refresh issue

    Hi All,

    I just switched from Ableton to Traktor, and wanted to continue using my APC40 which I simply love.

    I have a 4 deck setup, and I want to use the track control knobs for the EQ as follows:
    Pan button lit:
    Control 1 = Deck A high
    Control 2 = Deck B high
    Control 3 = Deck C high
    Control 4 = Deck D high

    Control 5 = Deck A mid
    Control 6 = Deck B mid
    Control 7 = Deck C mid
    Control 8 = Deck D mid
    ---

    Send A button lit:
    Control 1 = Deck A gain
    Control 2 = Deck B gain
    Control 3 = Deck C gain
    Control 4 = Deck D gain

    Control 5 = Deck A filter
    Control 6 = Deck B filter
    Control 7 = Deck C filter
    Control 8 = Deck D filter

    Here is the issue I am having: when switching between pan and send, the knobs do not refresh the position. For example if I have Send A on and turn the gain on Deck A all the way to the right, whereas my high on deck A is all the way to the left, when I switch back to Send A from Pan and try to turn the knob (deck a high) it is at the full right position which is what i set the gain to before switching.

    This also applies to the LED outputs.

    By the way, I am using modifiers for the pan / send A functionality as follows
    M1= 0 Pan off
    M1= 1 Pan On
    M2= 0 Send A off
    M2= 1 Send A on

    How do I get around this??

    Thanks for all your help in advance.

    1. Map to each of the send buttons and inverted send monitor state command.
    2. Map each knob's output to the +8CC (if it's CC20 map it to CC28) respecting the modifier states. I can't remember the velocity values that change the led ring behavior.

    Thanks PADI: So something like this?

    IN -> Deck A EQ high --> CC48 M1=1
    OUT -> Send Monitor State --> CC48 M1=1, inverted

    IN -> Deck A EQ gain --> CC48 M2=1
    OUT -> Send Monitor State --> CC48 M2=1, inverted

    I'll worry about the LED's after I get the knob states to be correct

    Thanks,
    Rudy

    IN -> Deck A EQ high --> CC48 M1=0
    OUT -> Deck A EQ high --> CC56 M1=0

    IN -> Deck A EQ gain --> CC49 M1=1
    OUT -> Send Monitor State --> CC57 M1=1

    You want the modifier to be shared along all the pages the different modes so you make sure no overlaps are happening and you save modifiers so:

    Pan: M1=0 (the 0 layer is the default one, change this to your liking)
    Send A: M1=1
    Send B: M1=2
    Send C: M1=3

    The inverted send monitor state IN commands should be mapped to the buttons you press to toggle between the different modifiers/modes. By making it inverted you make the refresh happen when you release the button (this is the way to bypass led issues with hotcues in native mode too)

    hmm,

    I am little confused now.
    1) I want to use the same knob for both gain and EQ high, but in your response you use CC48 for EQ and CC49 for gain, which is the knob next to it. Am I missing something?

    2) Regarding the track controls: The reason I was doing it like that is because I didn't think you could only have one "checked" at any given time, which is really what I want. In ableton, only one of those buttons can be enabled at any given time, but when used with traktor they are completely independent.

    Thanks a lot for your help by the way, you seem to know your stuff real well. I spent many hours on this already and I am at the point where I am losing it LOL!

    1) ignore the 48-49 change, my bad

    2) You can you just set the first button IN range to 0-0, second to 1-1 and so on. for LED feedback you do the same (you don't need to add +8 with buttons). If you are using the native mode and keep having to double press for the action to happen, set the control as Hold in Traktor. Dumb modes sets everything to hold so don't worry if this is the case.

    Ok I've been working on this some more. PADI thanks for your tips. I've been able to get the buttons to have the right state using one modifier. Still struggling with the lights though.

    Here is what I have

    Modifier INs:
    M2 = 0 PAN
    M2 = 1 Send A
    M2 = 2 Send B
    M2 =3 Send C

    Modifier OUTs ( button, condition)
    PAN, M2=0,
    SEND A, M2=1
    SEND B, M2=2
    SEND C, M2=3

    SEND MONITOR STATE OUTS (no conditions)
    PAN, Invert
    SEND A, Invert
    SEND B, Invert
    SEND C, Invert

    On start up, all lights are blank. As i cycle through them, they each turn on, but stay on except the pan button which never comes on.

    I tried different combos, i.e setting the condition on the send monitor state instead of the outs, set the condition on both, inverting both, etc.

    Ideas?

    Untick blend and only apply the modifier for the button outs (and the encoders of course).

    Set the modifier ins as button>direct and assing the corresponding values.

    No dice

    now pan and send a stay on as I cycle but I can't get them to go away.

    The modifier state debug tool shows the states correctly as i cycle through the buttons so I know at least those are correct.
