    Default DJ Booth Lighting Question

    Hey Peeps,

I've played in a couple of real dark events where it was tough to see my gear. I had a flashlight.

Any creative ideas for cool booth lighting that I can carry with me? Preferably something that casts a red or blue hue.

    You could try these flashlights.

LOL....I was looking to be a bit more inconspicuous than that. But I was expecting a reply that included those!

I have a usb flashlight that is just bright enough for me.

I've used battery operated ones just to realize they are always dead when I need them

It's not small...but can be really effective if you can leave it installed in the booth.

Great idea for home! Prolly tough to bring to a gig though.

    Yup.

I have something similar to that on an older mobile DJ facade. Over the years, I have installed this (or something similar) in 3 of the club booths where I commonly work (with permission of the club owner).

Is it really that tough? This really interests me. Cant you just unplug, roll up, put in bag and vice versa??

Id say it's tough because it's 10 feet of cord. I imagine you could keep it rolled up during a gig so that it remains compact, but then do you have a beacon next to your gear? Thats a question for soundinmotiondj, I guess.

I'd most likely go with red if this ends up being the final answer. Red would be bright enough to see in a dark environment without being overwhelmingly bright.

The problem that I ran into was that with some versions the plastic tube is quite stiff and difficult to unroll and lay flat. There are clips that can be screwed to a support and the rope "clipped" into it on a more permanent installation. If you don't mind it coiling around, it can easily be used just that easily.

The overall length is not that bad. There are some versions of rope light that can be cut to length. Alternatively, you could always leave part of the length coiled up in the carry bag.
