I run 8gb of ram on my MPB 13" i7 and it is an absolute beast....I would advise you do it as it's a fairy cheap upgrade. Sorry to say I can't remember what brand of ram I got but questions like that can be answered by hitting up places like macrumours.com

Get Kingston RAM sticks. It's a pretty straight forward process so don't be afraid to do it yourself, just get the proper screwdriver and be careful not to scratch the bottom of your lappy.

You don't need more than 4GB for Traktor

Never hurts to have more though, especially if he's going to be using it day to day - with 8gb you can literally throw anything at it and see no lag or performance lag.

No you're right, it can't hurt. Very marginal benefit for Traktor or 'normal life' use I'd say but if you want to spend some money and attack your computer with a screwdriver then why not?

I myself will be doing the same at some point next year with the more RAM/SSD combo
