    Default Ableton live 7 LE

    Hi..

Ok I want to have a go using Ableton live mainly for Djing...The problem

being I can't spend £400 at this time (plus i may get dumped if I do) so was

looking at the LE version which I can get boxed for around £80..

Would this be any good for my needs as I'm just starting using Ableton??

Or should I wait and get the full version??

Does anyone use LE??....And as I will be it using playing out I want to

    purchase the software...

    Cheers ears

Id say wait and get the full version - LE is rather limiting

Hi mate thanks for the reply...

In what ways would it limit me??..I.E what couldn't I do that vital for the Djing side of live.

Sorry but I'm really a total novice where Live is concerned...

    Cheers

    I dont agree.

I think LE will be more then enough to learn on as it provides pretty much all the features of the full version except a few ones for me which arent a huge deal for a basic DJ setup to learn on. (comparison chart here: http://www.ableton.com/live-le-feature-comparison)

    1. only 2 sends
    2. no tempo nudge (thus impossible to use in combo with a TT)
    3. Only 12 effects
    4. only 2 VSTs
    5. Only 8 scenes per project

Pretty much none of these would be an issue in a basic ableton DJ setup (in fact in my hyper-minimal setup none of these bar nudge are an issue), once you get into it you will probably need to upgrade (especially the VST issue) but to learn on its definately sweet imo. In fact nearly better as it stops you going crazy with heaps of stuff ;]

In saying all that THIS is the main reason to buy Ableton LE!

You get the ENTIRE cost of LE off the full version when you upgrade therefore there is absolutely no reason for you not get get a copy of LE now and just upgrade later on :] (tho ableton 8 will be out soon and ableton 8 LE wont be out for a while after that and I dont know what the upgrade deal will like like to get from 7 LE to 8)

    Hope that helps.

Ah you get the entire cost off, then its worth it to buy LE then the upgrade down the track then - i was under the impression it cost more but i must have been thinking about something else. Personally i couldnt live with only 2 sends 12 effects, 2 Vsts and 8 scenes

    Many thanks guys...

Had looked at the comparison chart but wasnt sure if I could use i'm for what I'm after...

Just needed a small bit of comfirmation

Think it's worth me getting LE for now and upgrade to 8 when I get the money...

Means I can get started for now...

    Cheers very helpful

Yeah but your a tech freak ;]

My minimal setup doesnt use much more then that. Bar the VSTs as the ableton EQ3 is shit.
