He didn't ask if we can beatmatch, he asked if we are comfortable using TTs or CDJ. I beatmatch into the outgoing DJs set all the time with no problem, no matter what he's using. But I learned my craft on Traktor and that's what I've stuck with (well, to a certain extent -- I haven't upgraded beyond v2.5.3 because the app has been laughably buggy and NI won't get their shit together in terms of functionality and workflow).

I spent an afternoon once with TTs and didn't think it was all that hard to learn to beatmatch. Since I'm not a scratch DJ/turntablist, I found it kind of limiting. That's just me.

I'll be honest -- I can't use a horse and buggy because I lack the experience, too.

fellow steve, may need your reading glasses and give it a second over, he clearly wants to know if you can beat match or can not.

my sentiments exactly. it's one of the only dj techniques thats almost ANYBODY can learn how to do with practice.

the things that really count are not as easily learned. things like having personal style/originality and the intuitive ability to structure a set that flows without stagnating - these are things that are important and some people will never learn it no matter how much they practice. not to mention things like charisma and the ability to comfortably engage the audience with your stage presence and hopping on the microphone to interact with your crowd, some people are just natural entertainers and some are not - and you better believe it counts.

Okay, I put on my reading glasses, and here's the topic title:
Did you learn to beatmatch on CDJs and or TTs and could you DJ a set with them alone?
Perhaps I am misinterpreting this as him asking whether or not we can beatmatch on CDJs or turntables.

sorry man, to elaborate Perhaps you did misinterpret.. you see whats being displayed is a controversial topic that egotistical dj's like to harp on, it's needles to the community & is brought up to distinguish the "real dj's" from what a lot of them call "microwave dj's". while you should always pay your dues, it's counter productive to slanders those who are in the process. I personally couldn't careless what people think or say to/about me, but bringing up the nonsense to a place like this, it's just in bad taste & im going to call it out.

No worries! But I don't see that anyone brought the controversy to the topic except the forum members themselves. It really was a straightforward question, and I'm even curious about what the poll shows.

The only inferential judgement on the OP's part was that "lack of experience" thing. As I said above, I lack experience at driving a horse & buggy, too, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to drive.
