Get the most expensive Garmin you can afford. I've used Magellan, some other brand I don't remember, and Garmin. Garmin hands down every time. What are you going to use it for?

yeah, garmin was recommended to me by someone else too

my car (not my plane, like the other guy, a pilot, thought)
just trips from the burbs to downtown chicago, and a few local places.

yes, i could use google maps, but i would rather have something a little more real time. and if i need to go to a second place thats un planned, im screwed.

but this is if Gmaps gets me mad. and once i have some $$$

EDIT: i just realized how i made this sound. see, i just got my licence, so thats why i keep using the future tense like that

EDIT 2: im really tired, sorry if anything sounds really wierd

Makes perfect sense to me, but I know a few pilots.

If you have an iPhone 4 I use Navigon on it for car duty. That's a pretty sweet setup with my bluetooth stereo I have music streaming from the phone and turn by turn ducking in over the music. I have an old Garmin GPS 60CS for the dirt bike and the fact that's it's literally been to hell and back is a testament to Garmin's strength.

I think I would go with that 265T or maybe the 1250T if you didn't ever plan on getting a bluetooth stereo.
