What's going on. I'm brand new to Traktor pro, just upgraded. The gater was cool for a bit. Now for some reason I'm getting this weird white noise when I turn it on. even when nothing is playing. Hmm...

This is normal, the gater feeds a white noize besides chopping the signal
if you're in advanced mode there's a control for the amount of white noise it adds.
The first knob is for the amount of noise, otherwise try the Dry/Wet knob of the Adv. FX.
I mix stuff on my things...
I always thought that as well, that the setting for the gator in simple mode had a bit too much white noise.

If you turn the gater on for more than one deck the white noise will increase - using it on 1 deck is quite pretty good, but as soon as you try to apply a gater effect to more than 1 deck at once you get a horrible amount of white noise happening.
I usually use the gater in advanced mode to be honest, for both gating the track (with the noise either low or 0) or with the the mte depressed and the noise at max, for adding little rythmic sections.
Sucks. I understand how noise can be useful in the context of a rhythmic gater, but there are many things I'd like to gate without mudding things up with noise. Guess I have to do that in advanced FX mode and lose my two other FX.
It would be nice if Traktor had some degree of linking between the Advanced and chained FXs. Things like the gater could do well with the chained picking up the settings that you can't change from the advanced one. so you could kill the noise in advanced save the presets then switch to chained and have it pick up those settings.
