Which program to extract loops from a song

My MPC 1000 needs some meat!

Up until now I always beat-gridded a track in Sony's ACID Pro and extracted loops this way. After beat-gridding I could easily jump from part to part.

I always asked myself if there is a fast way to do this, so please share your experience with me!

Use record function in traktor (if you have it) so you don't need to re-grid your track?

there's freecycle for linux, that can export akai format or split into wav.

on my asr-x i just prefer doing it by ear on the machine, takes longer but i think you get some interesting loops that you may not have....

It just for some loops.
I record samples mostly live using the NS7 and build something out of them.
Normally you can trim down loops until they sound nice, but I want a bunch of loops from one song. A program bursting it makes it a lot faster.

no problem if you try that artistX distro I posted about in the production subforum it has freecycle already installed..

Ableton is the best for this sort of thing i personally think, once you warp the song extracting loops is super easy
