A lot of people say techno but they mean anything from electro (ie afrika bambaataa) to house to trance to electronica. I'd say dont even bother with trace. Like stated imo its a deadend genre (not saying it cant go further, just that it isn't).

Sander Van Doorn is a sweet techno/house DJ/producer imo

The Kompakt label is freaking awesome stuff. Alot of minimal and electro tunes.
You can hear samples of their music on their websites.

Some people to check out from Kompakt:
    Michael Mayer
    Superpitcher
    Tobias Thomas
    Koze
    Wighnomy Brothers

Nowadays, the internet makes it easy to find, listen, and buy music. But I think the best way to find music is the old way. Hit a good vinyl shop with some listening stations(take your own set of cans), and dumpster dive all day. Check out stacks of records from all genres. Some times you will find some treasure hidden away that no one will know about, and you will say to yourself "damm, I was in grade school when this came out!". IMO, good music is good music, no matter how old or new it is.

im a producer/DJ what many dj and producer are doing now is mixing the trance with some elcrtro or progressive to give the tracks those build on keynotes and melodies but also the throwing hard stuff to it to make them easy and kool to DANCE AND LISTEN and u can call that progressive trance AVB,Tijs,Paul webter,Joop,RVG,FC style so trance have been continuing evolutioning but is not the same

Bwahaha, let's not go there. There's a fun thread on TranceAddict about the greatness of van booring's new ASOT compilation

I would agree with the bearport comment, just go and explore. Imagine a record shop in your mind and use it to explore a virtual one. I have found great music there by just spending hours in that shop.
    Thank Ya!!!
