Default Laptop crash last night a gig....x2!!!

    Hi all,

Just thought I would post to see if anyone had had the same problem as me last night.

Was rocking out at a place in North London when Traktor locked up and the audio window went red. Sound went out, crowd went nuts. Popped open preferences and it said there was no audio device connected.

With a bit of rejigging we got it working and I think it might have something to do with the stock NI audio 8 USB cable.

Anybody else had a similar problem?

are you saying you were running the laptop and audio8 off battery power? if so it's possible the power requirements for the audio8 weren't meet, and if this happens even briefly its going to act like you don't have hardware connected.

can u replicate this problem with the laptop pluggin in?

Do you have the Audio 8 Settings Tool running.
I bet if you did you would see massive USB streaming errors.

As Charo says you should use the power adapter for the laptop to prevent usb drop outs.

If the Audio Panel went Red then the soundcard definitely became disconected momentarily . You could try a different USB cable. I hate USB B connectors.

    Could not agree more.

I use a DJTT for the sound card and the cable that came with my Novation Launchpad for the VCI (it has a 90 degree B end that is TIGHT in the VCI).

Not heard of the settings tool - need to hunt that out.

The audio panel did go red. I think it must be the USB cable as had similar problem a week or two ago with the power brick connected to the Macbook but thought it might be electrical interference of some sort - think it might be the USB cable.
